Visions 1999 Part Ten The door opened, and we started in. Before we even crossed the threshold, I could see JamesGod he was beautifultalking to someone I couldn't see. We stepped into the room and both men turned to greet usYES! It was my buddy Chris! Goodbye nausea, hello relief! My comfort factor went up a good 25 degrees. Both men looked astonished to see me there. "My God, it's Paula!" said Chris with a smile. James just kind of gaped, and I think he might have said, "It's you!" I smiled at themI hopeand said, my arms wide, "How's this for a weird twist of fate?" "This is amazing," James said, "I met her yesterday." He reached over and shook my hand. "And you know," Chris said, "her birthday's coming up." "Ooo, you're bringing that up?" I groaned. I must note here that I, the birthday psycho, am less than thrilled by my upcoming 30th, or else I'd never have been so rude. "Come on, this is like an early birthday present," Chris said, to which James added, "Well, Happy Birthday." Well, okay, maybe the 30th isn't so bad when you get a Happy Birthday from James Marsters. "This is my sister Nancy. I've been forgetting to introduce her all weekend." He shook her hand with a "nice to meet you". "Can I ask a question?" Nancy asked with a raised hand. James raised an eyebrow. "What's your cat's name?" "Oh, Zachary," he said with the smile of a proud parent. "I got him in the Bronx. He was the only cat that wouldn't let go of me." He pantomimed trying to pull a cat off his face. "He was like, I'm not going back in that cage'!" "A survivor," I piped in, nodding my head I have three cats. I know. "Exactly," he said. "I feel kind of bad fixing him and all He'll never know the pleasure But he just refuses to come in. I don't think he's even mad at me anymore, he just likes it outside." (He was referring to a story he'd told on stage, although for the life of me, I can't remember why the cat was mad at him in the first place. Sorry.) "Would you mind terribly, just signing a couple of things?" I asked, kinda nervous to be asking a favor from him, when he was doing the biggest favor of all just talking to me. "Oh, of course," he said. I gestured with one hand, "It's just a couple of pictures for a friend, a Bronzer, and a comic book for me. You wouldn't believe how many of my friends are just outside that door." "See this is what you do," he told me. "When you're leaving, remember to kinda wipe your lips." He demonstrated with two of his fingers brushing against his bottom lip yes, that was his lip, not mine. "And, adjust your clothing a bit." He moved his shoulders around, twisting in his shirt. "Don't forget the buttons." (Was that Chris or Nancy? I don't remember.) "Yeah, the buttons, undo a couple." "Okay, I'll unbutton the top button, then I'll button it up when I go out," I replied with a smile, and proceeded to do so. Then I looked down and saw exactly how much that teeny tiny little button had been covering "Uh, maybe not!" I quickly buttoned it back up while James laughed gleefully at me. "Yeah, okay, I'm a prude."
