Visions 1999

Part Eleven

"Do you mind if I get a picture?" I asked, begging yet another favor.

"Gosh, no, of course not!" he said, and walked over. Chris and Nancy started to move away, but I waved them back. "No, no, all four of us. Do you mind?" I asked the one other person in the room, one of the event escorts. She took the camera and started to focus. James put his arm around me, with Chris to his right, and Nancy on the end. Nancy looked up at Chris and said, "Oh great, now it'll be really obvious how short I am." He laughed and moved her to the middle – "Now you can both be next to James." (God, I can't wait to see these pictures!)

"Hey, I was telling Paula earlier, remember when we were running lines together?" Chris asked James.

"Oh yeah, what scene was that? Oh, it was on the car, right?"

"Yeah, and I was reading the Buffy lines… You know you're a good actor if you have no problem seeing me as Buffy." They both laughed. Then James said something about next season, and I said, "So you are going to be a regular? But yesterday you said something about episode three, which totally conflicted with what I'd heard on the bronze."

"I said I'd be on as of episode three," he said. "You see, that's what I said," Nancy pointed out. (I hate I told you so's.) And Chris said something about doing Angel for the same night – fuzziness here - then Chris said to me, "But I'm taking up your time, you should be talking to him, I should go."

"No, don't be silly," I replied – heck, he was my lifeline, my grip on reality. I didn't want him going anywhere. Besides, I knew Chris could pick up the slack if I started to get all drooly and comatose.

I believe this is when James sat down to do the John Hancock thing; Nancy and I are a little fuzzy on when this actually happened. I pointed out Jimbo's pictures for him, spelling his name the Bronze way.

"Say, how was your breakfast?" he asked as he wrote. "I'm really sorry I couldn't go. It sounded like a lot of fun." *sigh* He was so sweet.

"Oh, no, please, we gave you no warning at all. It was just great of you to call." (The event photographer interrupted at this point to ask me to move closer to James – no problem there! – so he could get pictures for the website. And no, I have no idea when or where those pictures will be posted – I'll have to call to find out, though!)

"You know, I couldn't even sleep – I was wide awake at 7:00 this morning," James continued.

"Guess it was the night for it." (Man I just can't shut up.) "I spent the night tossing and turning. I mean, first it was, Is he gonna call? Is he gonna not call? Then, later, after I talked to you, …" And I just rambled on and on about my event-planning fears. Picture me mentally beating my head against the wall, and you get how I feel about that particular part of the conversation.
