Happy Birthday, Nancy!

It’s the sis’s birthday today, so if you know her, be sure to call to wish her a fabulous day! And if you have a spare thirty minutes or so to download a 66 meg file, check out the little video I made for her special day! Right click on the link to download it, it’ll play much cleaner if it’s loaded locally. I tried putting it on YouTube, but their compression algorithm kept un-syncing the audio.

Samuel L. Jackson! Jon Stewart! It’s the best!video!evah!

Samuel L. Jackson / Jon StewartI’m probably the last person on the planet to see this, but just in case, if you haven’t seen Samuel L. Jackson pimping Snakes on a Plane with Jon Stewart, YOU NEED TO SEE IT! Go! Now!

Makes me very sad that I can’t see the movie. 🙁 I blame this movie for my inability to ever watch another movie involving snakes.

Two things

First, I was quoted in the L.A. Times on Tuesday! The article is here, if you’d care to read it. Sorry I didn’t mention it earlier, but I was out of town when the article was published.

Tuolumne MeadowsWhich brings me to my second thing: Yosemite pictures! I spent three nights camping in Yosemite National Park this week, and good lord, it is too gorgeous for words! Or even pictures! But still, I tried my best. So far I have 170 pictures posted, but there will be more once my friend who is still there returns next week (I had to dump a load of pics onto her laptop to make room on my mem card to take more). Care to read about my trip?

Pictures! From seventy-bazillion years ago!

Today on my lunch break I scanned in 50 photos from my 30th birthday party, which took place six years and 11 months ago. Yes, I know they’re late, and I apologize, but I have sitting on my desk a shoebox filled to capacity with pictures that I intend to scan this summer, so they can finally be shared with the people in them.

So yes, I started with my 30th birthday party, because they’re the pictures that made me most nostalgic for a time long past, when Mom and Uncle Jack and Uncle Tom were not just with us, but were (relatively) healthy and strong. There are some pictures missing–a couple live in frames that I forgot to bring to the office, and I think some are temporarily misplaced, as I’m certain I can remember pictures containing Uncle Paul and cousin Tom, but I think 50 is a good start for now.

Note that I now host my pictures on Flickr rather than on my own server. Flickr is much more user friendly than my antiquated “frame” system, and I love their tagging feature. I have over 2000 photos stored there already, so feel free to poke around and see what else I have there.

Things I didn’t write about

Other things that happened in the past three months, that I apparently didn’t write about in other blogs, include:

+ Going to Hollywood, Florida in April for a conference (marvelous fun), followed by driving down to Key West with two coworkers for a long weekend of relaxing.
+ Telecommuting for two weeks in in April while they renovated our office space. I’d say more, but it’s not all positive, and this is a public blog.
+ Nan’s college graduation: monsoon weather conditions was sadly the most memorable part of that day, but Nancy looked adorable in her black cap and red gown with her shiny new diploma holder.
+ Nan’s bachelorette party: there was a japanese steakhouse, many drinks at the Black Brimmer, a pink tiara, and handcuffs. Need I say more?
+ The incredibly long to do list of stuff that we *actually accomplished* the week before the wedding. We rule!
+ The wedding. If you were there, you already know how beautiful the ceremony was, and hopefully had a better time at the reception than I or Nan did. If you weren’t there, you probably know someone who told you all about it.
+ The return home, return to “normal” life, and readjusting at work to get used to the new department that took over 3/4 of our building.

I think that’s enough for now, no need to overload the senses of my two readers. I’ll try not to take so long before my next post!
