Make me blind when your eyes close

Woo! It’s Harry Potter Thursday! And I am faced with a terrible dilemma—go to the 12:01am showing tonight, and risk being sleepy and cranky; wait until tomorrow, when the crowds will be insane; or, do both! Decisions, decisions…..

Economically, tomorrow afternoon would make the most sense. And I can bring my knitting, so the inevitable line won’t be quite as unbearable. But, tonight, there’s instant!gratification! And I am a creature of instant!gratification! And there’s a new director finally, and it’s my favorite book of the five currently out, so I have high hopes, and gah! I just cannot contain my excitement, yo.

I do so hate making decisions. *sigh* Perhaps I’ll just flip a coin.

Sunshine on my shoes

The lack of updates has been frustrating, I know, but life, she has been busy. Work has been insane as we try to prep the entire site with a new nav bar and footer, and life has been filled with visitors from far away places, first my mom and the sis, and then my friend from Seattle. May has been good, but hectic, and I have high hopes for a chill June.

Highlights from the past month have included:

+Seeing the Cubs slaughter the Dodgers live and in person, without getting a sunburn.
+Watching a brilliant but underappreciated television show in all its unaired glory.
+Playing Harry Potter Uno with Mom and the sis, and completely disgusting the sis with my “look out for number one” philosophy that cost us both the game.
+Eating my first ostrich burger.
+Knocking my kickboxing instructor on his butt for a solid half hour as I attempted to perfect the strike-and-sweep technique.
+Getting a straight *and* a full house in my first two hands ever of Texas Hold’em. (The subsequent crushing loss on a pair of twos was less of a highlight.)
+Helping two friends enjoy their perfect wedding in the mountains.
+Seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in two years, and still instantly clicking.
+Finishing a beautiful shawl (pictures to be posted soon).
+Saying goodbye to the last Mutant Enemy television on the air.

And that’s not even the half of it, just the ones I can come up with right now. So you see, I really have been quite busy.

On the downside, my company has eradicated AIM from our systems. No more late afternoon Lexibox games. *sigh*

Still alive

College is something you complete. Life is something you experience. So don’t worry about your grade, or the results or success. Success is defined in myriad ways, and you will find it, and people will no longer be grading you, but it will come from your own internal sense of decency which I imagine, after going through the program here, is quite strong…although I’m sure downloading illegal files…but, nah, that’s a different story.

Love what you do. Get good at it. Competence is a rare commodity in this day and age. And let the chips fall where they may.

And the other thing….that I will say is, when I spoke earlier about the world being broke, I was somewhat being facetious, because every generation has their challenge. And things change rapidly, and life gets better in an instant.

Slacker Girl

I’ve been such a slacker lately with updates. Of course, it doesn’t really need mentioning as it’s fairly self-evident, but confession’s good for the soul, yo. Me=Slacker Girl.

My uncle Richard died a couple of weeks ago, so I went home for the funeral. Saw relatives I haven’t seen in years, including one of the cutest babies ever. Was a little sad that I hadn’t been more diligent in keeping in touch with some of my favorites from that side of the family. Hung out at the sister’s new apartment, and subsequently got hooked on an X-Box/Buffy video game. Knitted up a storm, and spent another small fortune on yarn. Got my hair cut. Missed a heck of a lot of krav. That pretty much sums it up.

Now it’s Friday, and Mom arrives on Wednesday for her annual spring visit. There’s so much cleaning and other prep stuff to get done, I’m getting weary just thinking about it. Or maybe I’m just tired in general. Dunno, but whatever it is, it makes it hard to focus, yo.

Yesterday was Jack’s birthday, he’s now two years old. He’s so incredibly big, and yet he still has the baby face that he’s always had. He’ll always be a big ol’ momma’s boy, though; he still follows me around like a puppy dog.

Yeah, I’m just rambling. How is it these posts always end up rambling? I’ll go do a study on that and get back to you. Until then, go get yourself a tshirt or a bumper sticker. ;-D
