Hee!

I did more scanning yesterday, and more editing today, so I thought I’d share a gem or two.

+One Easter, my grandmother was in the hospital, so of course we went to visit her, as did my Uncle Paul’s family. I was fortunate enough to capture this marvelous picture of my then-very young cousin Mark trying to take my sister’s brand new stuff bear, Solo.

+My nephew James was the most adorable little nephew ever, and so much fun to play with!

+One marvelous summer day we headed to Hampton beach for a day of goofing off. We took a ton of photos on the beach, but unfortunately I haven’t yet scanned the picture of us pretending to do the “crow” from The Karate Kid.

+In case you couldn’t tell, I was (and still am) a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes.

+The mad skier strikes again!

+You wouldn’t know it now, but my hair used to be insanely curly.

+I think this one speaks for itself.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

I don’t believe I’ve mentioned it here yet, so just in case – the sis and Todd are officially engaged! The wedding will be next May, and I, of course, will be serving the lovely couple in the capacity of Maid of Honor. I’ve posted pictures of her ring here.

In other news, I’m embarking on the Scanning Project from Hell, starting today. It involves almost every photo album I own, which is a LOT, and part of what makes it hell is that I’m not just scanning the pictures I need, but also the photos in their general vicinity that capture my fancy–since I’m going to the trouble anyway. This way I won’t have to go through the albums again come the day I decide I want all my photos digitized (actually, I’ve already decided it, I’ve just been too lazy to actually do it before now). By doing a little each day, on my lunch break and perhaps after work, I’m hoping it won’t be quite so formidable a task.

Today’s album included some pictures from high school. The sis and I are only in a few of these, so they probably won’t interest most of you, but I feel the need to document my progress, and besides, it’s neat to look back at the people that populated my life twenty (ugh) years ago.

Also, in the “sometimes I really do have a life” category, I went to see Tegan and Sara Monday night with K&L for K’s birthday. We had a fabulous time, mediocre opening band notwithstanding, although it’s amazing how young the rest of their fans are. That place had to be filled with fake id’s, ’cause 21 y.o.’s aren’t supposed to look that young. But the music was great, and we got great seats in the balcony, and I had the most unobstructed view I’ve ever had for anything. Plus I had the coolest hair there. *g*

Today We Are All Brits

Talked to Mom on the way to work to make sure everyone is ok – glad to hear everyone is. Although, had I known that Mark and Patrick were *both* in London at this very moment, I would’ve been calling Mom even earlier. {{{hugs}}} to you both. Stay safe, and I hope all your friends over there are also safe.

Well, that was more than a little annoying.

I had a bbq to go to this afternoon, so I spent all morning and part of the afternoon working on my Flash project, which fortunately is coming along nicely, so nicely that I lost track of time and ended up getting into the shower late. But whatever, I got ready, glad to be having a good hair day for a change, and headed off for the great hot valley.

So of course, less than a mile from my apartment, my car, which was on its absolutely best behavior yesterday when I wanted to get its new rattle checked by my mechanic, suddenly starts smelling like burning rubber. At first I thought it was just the neighborhood, but I pulled into a parking lot, popped the hood, and sure enough, the smell is super strong there.

Have I mentioned how much I hate my car?

Rather than risk a meltdown somewhere in the valley, I headed home. And wouldn’t you know it, the smell faded on the way back? Gah! Hate!

So here I sit, at home, alone, all showered and dressed with nowhere to go. Bah. I hate my car.

But perhaps, it was just a sign that I need to finish my Flash project. *sigh*

SOMEDAY, I’ll be better at updates

But my money is on not.

Life has settled back to normal since NOLA and San Francisco, and damn, what a disappointment that’s been! L.A. is a rough town, yo. Men are far more attentive and, well, fun, in other cities (i.e. NOLA and SF) than in L.A., where a lot of guys (not all, I would never stereotype *that* far) are either focused on all the pretty young starlet-wannabes, or else are trying to attract attention themselves. Makes it rather difficult for the not-even-close-to-a-size-3 gals such as myself. I kinda knew that going in, but spending time in those other, non-Hollywood towns reminded me of how much easier it could be elsewhere, if only I didn’t love it so much here. *sigh*

In other news, the NOLA pictures are up, and for the first time ever, are not hosted here – yet. The software available at Livejournal was more suited to my needs, but soon I’ll be moving them over to reside with all the rest. Until then, you can see them here. Enjoy!
